Pryč je vše, co měla ráda
Oděni do černé
Jdem pohřbít kamaráda
V hlavě zní jeho smích, jeho škaredé zpívání
Pak už jen ticho
Jak smutné je odcházení
V očích slzy za život
Na tváři poslední vráska
V srdci žal, na očích páska
Pohled na rakev
Smuteční hosté z mnoha měst
Květiny vadnoucí v rukách
Vzdavají mu naposled čest
Pak už jen převozník na loď ho bere
A poslední vzlyk se dere do ticha

All that she loved is gone
Dressed in black we go to
Bury our beloved.
We remember his laughter, and his vain attempts to sing …
Then the rest is silence
How sorrowful is passing away
Eyes full of tears for death
The last wrinkle on his face
Saddened hearts, and covered eyes
All they see is the coffin.
Mourners coming from near and far,
The flowers dying in their hands
Giving him the final tribute
Then the boatman welcomes him on board
And the last tears of us all usher in the silence
